The client:
Our client is an international law firm with an outstanding reputation across all lines of insurance. They have a long standing and highly regarded property and construction insurance team. In line with their successes, the team plans to build and establish a specialist recoveries sub-team.
This strategy has come about as a result of the successes of a London-based Partner who Auston Legal placed in 2021. The partner in question has secured a long-term arrangement with a large insurer that is expected to generate a regular number of significant recovery claims per month.
The claim flow is currently being serviced by our client’s existing insurance team(s), but they are keen to build a dedicated recoveries team working from both the London and Regional offices.
The role:
Our client is looking to recruit lawyers of varying levels of experience to handle recoveries arising from property/construction related losses.
Our client’s priority is to engage with ambitious lawyers who have strong litigation experience in this field, and who would relish the opportunity to be part of building a new team. Location is not a key factor, and our client is keen to recruit lawyers across the regions.
Key requirements:
Previous commercial/insurance litigation experience with a focus on property/construction matters (NQ – 10 PQE).
An ability to prioritise workload.
An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and precise reports.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Ability to work with case management systems.
The personal skills to deal with major and expensive litigation, including liaising with senior claims handlers.
Legal qualification (solicitor/FCILEx).
Desirable:
Willingness and enthusiasm to play a role in the development of client relationships and of the practice as a whole.
Claims handling experience (via a previous secondment or otherwise)
