The Client 
Our client is a major insurer which has a well-established legal team (which operates as an ABS) in Manchester. The team handle claims across all commercial lines. Professional indemnity claims against a range of professionals (including claims against solicitors, conveyancers, surveyors, architects and engineers) make up a significant part of their workload. They also advise on complex policy coverage issues. 
 
The team have strong relationships with insureds and have the benefit of being able to work closely with a range of claims professionals. 
 
The Role 
Our client wishes to recruit a lawyer to handle their own caseload; the focus of which will be complex professional indemnity claims. The successful candidate may also have exposure to property and casualty claims. 
 
 
Key requirements: 
Previous insurance litigation experience, ideally within professional indemnity (1-6 PQE) 
An ability to prioritise workload 
An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and concise reports 
Ability to pay attention to detail 
Ability to work with case management systems 
The personal skills to deal with such work as major and expensive litigation involving liaison with senior claims handlers 
Legal qualification required – solicitor/FCILEx 
 
Desirable: 
Willingness to play a role in the development of client relationships and of the practice as a whole 
Claims handling experience (via a previous secondment or otherwise)
