The Client 
Our client is an international law firm which is highly regarded for its work in the professional indemnity sector. The firm’s regional professional indemnity offering has grown tremendously across all claim types since 2019, and this trend is set to continue into 2023. Our client is instructed by a number of major composite insurers and their regional construction PI team handles a wide range of matters with claim values into the £millions. 
 
The role: 
Having successfully built a team of over 20 construction-focused professional indemnity lawyers, the Bristol team wishes to recruit an experienced insurance litigator, ideally with a background in construction, to help bridge the gap between the senior partners and lawyers at Solicitor level. 
 
In addition to those currently active in this area, the partners are keen to consider experienced property damage lawyers who have handled pure construction disputes and a genuine interest in focusing in this area. 
 
The role will involve running a caseload of construction-focused professional indemnity claims as well as assisting partners with high value and multi-party claims. 
 
 
 
 
Should the successful candidate so wish, there is potential to gain exposure to other kinds of professional indemnity claims, including claims against lawyers and financial services professionals. 
 
There is early client contact and likely to be significant secondment opportunities in the future. 
 
Key requirements: 
Previous insurance litigation experience (5+ PQE) 
An ability to prioritise workload 
An ability to communicate in writing and prepare succinct and concise reports 
Ability to pay attention to detail 
Ability to work with case management systems 
The personal skills to deal with major and expensive litigation, including liaising with senior claims handlers 
Legal qualification (Solicitor/FCILEx) 
 
Desirable: 
Willingness to play a role in the development of client relationships and of the practice as a whole. 
Claims handling experience (via a previous secondment or otherwise).
