The Role 
The Catastrophic Injury and Complex Claims team is seeking to recruit an ambitious Senior Associate to join their market-leading and progressive team. The core focus is on delivering a consistent premium service to a number of in complex and high value claims rather than volume litigation. 
 
The role involves working alongside leading partners in the sector, taking responsibility (and a lead role) on significant complex claims in addition to consistently targeting client development initiatives. Working directly under the lead Partner, you will be responsible for leading on high value and complex injury claims, including brain and spinal injuries valued up to £25m. Additionally, you will handle niche specialisms such as significant human rights issues, discrimination, and complex/sensitive data breaches, often requiring careful reputation management. The team is also renowned for managing claims in sport, presenting unique and intricate case types. 
 
This is a rare opportunity as internal progression is entirely merit based with numerous business development initiatives possible with existing panel clients. The existing team is at capacity and will fully support a new senior recruit to open doors across the client portfolio to give you the best opportunities to strengthen the connections and win new instructions. 
 
Geographic flexibility is offered, with the expectation of working from one of the regional offices (Birmingham, Nottingham, or Cardiff) two days a week, with occasional travel to other regional offices or client sites. 
 
Key Accountabilities: 
Manage a complex, high-value caseload of EL and PL claims and in niche areas of defendant litigation. 
Oversee day-to-day claims management on cases strategically led by a Partner, focusing on the most complex and high-value claims.

Plan and deliver relevant seminar and training programs, both in person and online. 
Write blog posts and advisory articles on an ad-hoc basis for both internal materials and sector publications and websites. 
Deliver exceptional client service at all times, keeping the client at the centre of everything you do. 
Stay updated on sector developments and changes to ensure advice is compliant and sector focused. 
Delegate tasks to and supervise junior team members as required. 
Adopt a proactive approach to business development, maximising potential new opportunities externally and through internal cross-selling opportunities. 
 
Key requirements: 
Ambitious, with exceptional defendant/claimant catastrophic injury experience. 
Possess a broad range of experience including both liability and quantum. 
Demonstrable experience in a senior fee-earning role. 
Familiarity with IT (Microsoft Office) and ideally with experience using appropriate case management systems. 
Familiarity with online and library research facilities. 
Attention to detail with the ability to explain and advise clients on complex technical aspects of processes and procedures. 
Willingness to learn and comply with client Protocols and Service Level Agreements. 
Technical excellence.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues. 
Enthusiastic team player with experience supervising and mentoring junior team members.
